UWKCVolunteer Management Workshops:

*NEW* How to Be a Champion of Volunteer Engagement – for Boards and EDs

Sign up. October 16, 8:30am-10:30am, Alice Fong and Nancy Long

“Volunteers are the heart of our organization.”  As leaders, we’ve all heard this- we have probably even uttered it.  And there is truth to this sentiment.  Volunteers are the fuel for many organizations’ crucial programming. But many organizations devote too little time, support and resources, especially from the executive director and board, to most effectively tap and sustain their volunteer workforce.  Many organizations leave volunteer development to the volunteer coordinator’s domain rather than seeing volunteers as a strategic resource to be considered and strengthened with leadership attention. When did your board last focus attention on volunteers as a strategic human resource for your organization?

Essentials of Effective Volunteer Resources Management (Overview)

Sign up. October 27, 8:30am-4:30pm, Alice Fong

Sign up. January TBD, 8:30am-4:30pm, Alice Fong

Sign up. March TBD, 8:30am-4:30pm, Alice Fong

Sign up. May TBD, 8:30am-4:30pm, Alice Fong

This one day workshop is offered to meet the special needs of Volunteer Managers with less than two years’ experience. More experienced coordinators seeking “refresher” training are also welcome. The seminar provides an overview of the components of successful volunteer engagement, identifies resources for future development and provides great networking opportunities.

Volunteer Screening, Orientation and Placement: Using a Risk Management Lens

Sign up. November 10, 9:00am-11:30am, Patrick Tefft, CVA

This session will help you examine your organization’s volunteer policies and practices in the areas of position development, recruitment, screening, placement and training. Determine which policies and practices need clarification so that you can start prioritizing next steps. It will also help you start a discussion with decision-makers for instituting change.

Please click on the workshop titles above for price, location and registration information or see our training calendar.
