VAN Conference Welcomes Beth Steinhorn!

beth-steinhornThe VAN Conference is thrilled to welcome Beth Steinhorn of the Fixler Group to our 2016 Conference. Our theme is Engagement: the Path to Healthy Communities! The conference will take place on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Cascadia College, 18345 Campus Way NE, Bothell, WA 98011.

If you haven’t heard Beth speak, you are in for a treat.  Beth Steinhorn is a nationally recognized leader, writer, and innovator in volunteer engagement and nonprofit management. Throughout her 25+ year career with nonprofit organizations, Beth has helped organizations and their leadership achieve their missions through strategic and innovative engagement. She has served as a consultant, executive director, trainer, and program director, and has worked with museums, education agencies, faith-based organizations, health and human services organizations, volunteer centers, and universities. In addition to presenting at local and national conferences including the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, Beth is a certified Service Enterprise trainer. Beth co-authored the book Boomer Volunteer Engagement: Facilitator’s Tool Kit and served as editor for the book Boomer Volunteer Engagement: Collaborate Today, Thrive Tomorrow. She is also a contributing author to VolunteerMatch’s recently published Volunteer Engagement 2.0 and Charity Channel’s You and Your Nonprofit: Practical Advice and Tips from the CharityChannel Professional Community. As President of JFFixler Group, Beth leads consultations, facilitates workshops, coaches executives, presents keynote addresses, and publishes blog and articles.

We also seek YOU, our local talent, to lead workshops. We seek basic volunteer management workshops on recruitment and recognition as well as advanced level topics such as liability issues and diversity in our volunteer corps.  So please submit an RFP (Request for Proposals) Form. You can find it HERE.  It’s due by April 30th.  We don’t pay our workshop presenters, but you do get a free conference, meals and parking.

Lisa Yeager has more than 15 years experience in Volunteer Management. She has lead volunteers at the Bellevue Art Museum, WACAP, Hopelink, Encompass, Autism Speaks (Walk Now for Autism), and the Sno-valley Senior Center. She has won the DuFort Award for Volunteer Management, and Program Manager of the Year in 2000. She is currently Treasurer and conference chair for VAN.
