Become a Volunteer Management Consultant
Volunteers can be the catalyst to ensuring that community needs are met, yet many nonprofits lack the resources to adequately prepare for volunteer involvement. Join United Way’s VIP Volunteer Management Corps (VMC) program, and utilize your professional skills to empower a nonprofit to fully harness the time and talent of much needed volunteers, by creating the nuts and bolts of an effective volunteer program. https://www.501commons.org/engage/VMC

For more information about VMC, contact Stephanie Heffner, or apply to join the Service Corps and become a VMC consultant today!

Points of Light’s Conference Scholarship Opportunity
Each year Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) manages the Sara Ballard Volunteer Scholarship, which provides a small group of recipients from Michigan AND Washington with financial assistance for attending Points of Light’s Conference on Volunteering and Service.  This scholarship can help by covering the cost of a flight or travel, conference registration, or hotel accommodations.  The deadline is February 14, 2020.  The scholarship targets volunteers and young professionals (with less than three years’ experience) in the field of volunteer management.  This scholarship fund honors Sara who worked for volunteer centers in Michigan and Washington and passed away unexpectedly in 2011 at the age of 36.  Click here to learn more about the scholarship, requirements, application process and Sara’s legacy.
