Join your peers in discussing volunteerism through the lens of racial equity. United Way Volunteer Initiatives Manager Alice Fong and her colleague, Alice Park, will lead the discussion, looking at racial equity to understand the background and key disparities in the work United Way does. We live in a very diverse county where understanding cultural norms will be helpful on how we interact with one another. Explore what volunteerism is like in different communities and how to build relationships with different communities to join your team.
You will look through a racial equity lens to analyze your volunteer management practices and how they engage people of color. What can your role be in this?
United Way of King County is launching its new volunteer website and Alice will spend some time reviewing it. Please come for what should be a dynamic discussion.
When: Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
